Psychodynamic Psychopharmacology

Reactions to medications depend not only on the biological action of a medication but the thoughts, meanings, experiences, and fantasies tied to taking it, many of which can be outside of a person’s awareness. Psychodynamic psychopharmacology involves not only conducting a thorough evaluation and finding the right medication but also also creating a space to explore what medications mean for someone in order facilitate a more productive and healthy relationship to them.
